CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR

Keville Enterprises, Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking qualified construction inspectors to perform inspection services on public and private projects for airport, rail, highway, road, bridge, facilities, and water/wastewater projects. A positive attitude is a must.

 

DUTIES: Area of focus will be inspecting work performed by construction contractors to ensure conformance with contract plans and specification, contract administration, reporting daily progress, tracking and documenting quantities of work performed, resolving construction problems and challenges in the field and other oversight responsibilities as assigned. Candidates shall have knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, strong communication skills, documentation control, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and to perform quantity takeoffs/calculations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in inspecting, testing, or managing construction projects is a must. Candidates must be fully proficient in the use of computers including MS Word, Excel and construction reporting/quantity tracking software. Must have effective written and oral communication skills, be eager to learn, willing to perform a variety of tasks and be a team player. A minimum of three years of experience in civil, highway or a relevant engineering field is required, with one year in a field inspection capacity. Any of the following Professional certifications are strongly preferred: NICET; NETTCP; ACI; NACE; AWS/CWI; ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor; EIT; CMIT. Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) or Associates Degree in a relevant field is preferred.

General Work Conditions Field Environment:  Work is frequently performed in a field environment in which there is consistent exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions.  Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work frequently requires working at client's job site, construction trailer, and in a field environment.  Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment, and doing extensive walking. Depending on the specific project, the job may require climbing to various elevations, ability to bend, twist and turn in close clearances, and crawl into confined spaces to perform required work.  Select jobs may require work near heavy construction equipment, railroad right of ways, bridges, construction sites, tunnels and airport runways.  Work environment may require use of construction/inspection safety equipment including fall equipment.  Work schedules may vary to include nights, weekends and overtime. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required. 

Satisfactory results acceptable to KEI from a criminal/MVR background check and a pre-employment drug test is required. Must have and maintain a valid US driver's license.
